Koa Rangi — Editor & Fact-Checker, Branders.nz

Koa Rangi is the editorial backstop for every review and guide published on Branders.nz. Her job is to make sure every factual claim — from the licence number on a casino card to the citation on the IRD’s offshore-duty page — is verified against a primary source before publication.

What Koa Does

Every review and guide on Branders.nz is fact-checked by Koa before it goes live. The fact-check covers:

  • Regulatory claims — we cite the DIA, IRD, Department of Internal Affairs and the underlying legislation directly. Every reference to a statute, a duty rate, or a licensing milestone is checked against the primary source.
  • Operator claims — every licence number is cross-referenced against the regulator’s public register. Every RTP figure is cross-checked against the studio’s published RTP table.
  • Bonus terms — bonus T&Cs change frequently. Koa re-reads the live terms on each operator’s site at re-test time and flags any drift from the version we reviewed.
  • Withdrawal benchmarks — the Avg Withdrawal numbers in our comparison tables come from Jack Walker’s timed cashout tests. Koa validates the testing log and confirms the published median matches.
  • Responsible-gambling resourcing — every page’s help block is verified against the current state of Gambling Helpline NZ, Problem Gambling Foundation NZ and Choice Not Chance.

Editorial Independence

Koa has full editorial veto. If a review fails fact-check, it doesn’t publish until the issue is resolved — regardless of whether the operator in question is a paying affiliate partner. Branders.nz’s commercial relationships do not influence editorial decisions, and the fact-check process is one of the structural safeguards that keep that rule honest.
